Primary Considerations for Digital Nomads:

  1. Internet Connection

    1. Hotel WiFi: Up to 50mbps

    2. Pocket WiFi: Up to 10mbps

  2. Power or Electricity

As a huge city and more progressive than any other city in the Philippines, you don't have to worry about electricity in Hong Kong.

  3. Security

I don't see police officers around or patrols, but there are CCTVs in every corner. It feels very safe and free to roam around, no matter how crowded the streets may become.

  4. Travel Time or Accessibility

Transportation in Hong Kong is, of course, top-notch! Trains and buses are on time to the last minute and very efficient. I never experienced it becoming too crowded.

  5. Coffee Shops

Shops, including fast-food places, have internet connections. Even 7-Eleven offers 30 minutes of free internet daily. You can also work in parks since pocket wifi is really stable.

General Tips:

  1. Most travelers tend to check out rooms in Chungking Mansion because it offers a lot of choices, but you may also want to consider nearby places. There are many other worthy options as well.

  2. Downloading the train map can be very handy when navigating around Hong Kong.

  3. Make sure to check if your phone is eSIM-enabled at least a day before your travel date.

  4. I withdrew 800 HKD at the airport using my BPI account. You just need to enable international withdrawals through the mobile app.

  5. The 800 HKD was more than enough for my 6 days in Hong Kong; I was left with around 200 HKD because I used my credit card for other transactions.

  6. It's best to use credit cards whenever possible, so make sure to plan your withdrawals. Most stores accept credit card payments now.
